Megaloblastic anemia is caused by: Phenytoin toxicity. Over dose of Phenytoin and other anticonvulsant durg have also been associated with the development of megaloblastic anemia. Phenytoin (dilantin) causes megaloblastic anemia due to decreased folate absorption.
