Sodium chloride is soluble in water since water is considered to be a universal solvent, thus whenever an amount of sodium chloride is added to water, it can easily get dissolved. Although the concept of solubility considers the amount of solvent and the amount of solute that is combined, since there a mixture can result in either saturated ( greater amount of solvent compared to solute) and unsaturated ( greater amount of solute compared to solvent)
