Marrow can be found in the hollow interior of bones.

It is a soft and spongy tissue that exists in two forms: red marrow and yellow marrow.

Red marrow is responsible for producing red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, and is mostly found in the flat bones such as the hip bones, breastbone, skull, ribs, vertebral column, and shoulder blades, and in the spongy material at the ends of the long bones like the femur and humerus.

Yellow marrow, which is rich in fat cells, is found in the central cavities of the long bones.

As a person ages, some of the red marrow gets converted into yellow marrow.
