Lets put the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. Every variable or number that will change signs, will have their sign changed from a + into a - and vice versa.
We will have:
8.25s=10+2.375
8.25s=12.375
Divide both sides with 8.25
8.25s/8.25 = 12.375/8.25
s=1.5
