We have,

p^2+16p-22=0

Standard form :

Ax² + bx + c = 0

Solving by completing square :

P² + 16p = 22

P² + 16p + 64 = 22 + 64

(P + 8)² = 86

By a² + 2ab + b² = (a + b)²

Now, taking square root, we get

(P + 8) = ±√86

P = ±√86 - 8

Taking positive sign

P = √86 - 8

Taking negative sign

P = -√86 - 8
