What is the simplest form of the expression (14.2a + 9.8b) – (13.1b – 0.2a) – (3.7a + 4.8b)? 10.7a – 8.1b 10.7a Plus 27.7b 18.1a Minus 8.1b 18.1a Plus 27.7b

So lets try and remove the brackets in our expression. If there is a + in front of the fraction then it says like that even when we remove the brackets. If there is a - in front of the bracket, when we will remove them, the signs will change from a + into a - and vice versa.

So we will have:

14.2a+9.8b-13.1b+0.2a-3.7a-4.8b=

Add the same variables together.

14.2a+0.2a-3.7a=10.7a

9.8b-13.1b-4.8b=-8.1b

=10.7a-8.1b
