Let the cost of wrapping small gifts be x
And, cost of wrapping big gifts be y
Then,
39x + 16y = 277 …1
35x + 42y = 525
5x + 6y = 75
6y = 75 – 5x
y = (75 - 5x)/6 …2
Now, substitute (2) in (1), we get
39x + 16(75 - 5x)/6 =277
117x + 1200 – 80x = 831
117x – 40x = 831 – 600
77x = 231
x = 3
Now, substitute x value in (2)
y = (75 - 5×3)/6
y = (75 – 15)/6
y = 60/10
y = 10
Thus, charge of wrapping small gifts were $3 and large gifts were $10.
