It is responsible for the absorption of the sun's solar energy, which is essential for the growth and survival of plants. Plants need sunlight in order to undertake the process of photosynthesis, in which the plants used 6 carbon dioxide molecules, 6 water molecules, plus the sun's solar energy which is absorbed by the chlorophyll, to yield 6 oxygen molecules and sugar molecules, that acts as a source of food and nutrients for the plants.
