Determine the equation for the area of a circle.

Formula for the area of the circle:  A = πr^2

A = Area

r = radius

To further understand the given concept behind the area of the circle, refer to the example below.

Example.

Find the of a circular pond with a diameter of 30m.

Since in solving for the radius of a circle, we need to know it's radius, and on the equation, we are given a diameter, then we must first determine the radius.

d = 2r

Diameter is equal to 2 times the radius

r = d/2

r = 10/2

r = 5 m

Now that we have the radius of the circle, we can simply solve the area of the circle.

 A = πr^2

 A = π(5)^2

 A = 25π

A = 78.54 m^2
