The mass of an object measures the amount of matter in the object.
Mass also determines the object's gravitational attraction strength to other bodies, since any object containing a mass has a force of gravity that is being exerted to the object itself. That is why when we are asked to find the force of an object, we multiply it with the acceleration due to gravity ( 9.8m/s^2).
Mass can be stated according to the SI Unit of Measurement, which are as follows:
grams = g
kilograms = kg
pounds = lbs
milligrams = mg
The most common unit that is used for mass in deriving quantities, is kilogram, although it may vary according to the conditions that is stated.
