Speed  = 3 cm/year or 0.03 m/year

Distance = 500 km or 500 × 1000 m

= 500,000 m

So, t = 500,000 m/0.03m/year

t = 16,666,666.67 years 

 

Thus, it will take them 16,666,666.67 years to drift 500 km farther apart than they are at present.
