Let monthly salary be x

Then, 40% of x is saved. So, 60% is remainin. So, 60% of x = x/100 × 60

= 3x/5

Now, 8/10 is given to wife. So, remaining amount is 2/10

So 2/10 of 3x/5 = 3x/5 × 2/10

= 3x/25

Now, remaining amount 3x/25 is divided equally among 4 children. And, amount received by 2 daughter is $480. It can be written as

3x/25 × 1/4 × 2 = 480

3x/50 = 480

x = 480 × 50/3

x = 160 × 50

x = 8000

Thus, monthly salary is $8000
