first thing that we do is that we multiply 5 with all everything on the bracket, so 5 will multiply 5 and the -7

so we will have: 5x-35=50

we will put x-s on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other side

5x=50+35

5x=85

lets divide both sides of the equations 

5x/5=85/5

x=85/5

x=17
