Unsaturated means that the solute to solvent ratio in a mixture/solution is not equal. There is a higher amount of solute which contributes to the uneven look, or unsaturated look of the solution. It can often be seen physically, if there is an unsaturated content on the bottom of a solution. Another factor of unsaturation, if the solution is not properly mixed like for example in powdered drinks, where there are still some residue. This means that it was not stirred properly.
