Dalton's “Billiard Ball” Model thought that atoms were like, small hard balls that could not be broken down into smaller pieces. Dalton's experiment focused mostly on the idea of the atom and not it's actual composition, unlike J.J. Thomson. Thomson provided that an atom is made of even smaller particles and were made up of positively charged substance with a negatively charged electrons that are scattered about like raisins in a pudding. This idea is where he based his Plum Pudding Model. There's not much contradictory between two concepts although the scope of their focus differs.
