80% of Mexico's population follow catholicism since it was influenced by the Spanish regimes during the late 1800s. Spain is known as an expeditionary country in the past, by which as they venture throughout the world, one of their main goals is to establish the roman catholic religion in the countries that they've visited, or conquered. Hence, Mexico is one of those countries, therefore the culture and religion of most people is based on catholic faith and beliefs.
