A competition between different specie is called Interspecific competition. Competition can harm both species because it can lead to lack of resources in the long run. Limited resource(either water, food, territory) under competition between different species can put one or both specie's survivability at risk. Competition can be direct or indirect and the interaction can be biotic or abiotic and they are one of the factors that affects the structure of the community.
