Statement is not true ( light increases as depth increase )

Temperatures in the oceans decrease with increasing depth. There are no seasonal changes at the greater depths. The temperature range extends from 30 °C (86 °F) at the sea surface to −1 °C (30.2 °F) at the seabed.

It's the pressure of Earth's full atmosphere pressing down on us at sea level. As you travel from sea level to a higher elevation on land, atmospheric pressure drops. That's because there's less air above you pressing down. Similarly, as you travel deeper in water, pressure increases.

There are Radioactive materials below crust which causes the temperature increasing as we go deeper on land.
Whereas in case of ocean, from sea level till basin there's only water and sun light can't penetrate beyond 100 ft. That makes the temperature reduce in oceans. If you go deeper from ocean basin, you'll find temperature increase just like on land and for the same reason.
