We have,

(x+9)² =169

Taking square root from both sides, we get

(x + 9) =  ±√169

x + 9 = ±13

x = ±13 - 9

Taking positive sign, we get

x = 13 -9

x = 4

Now, taking negative sign, we get

x = -13 -9

x = -22

Hence, roots of (x+9)^2=169 is 4 and -22
