In order to make a solute soluble in water, you must increase the amount of water in the container or simply decrease the amount of solute that is added to the water. Solubility is a matter of proportion between a solute and a solvent, hence when a their is a greater amount of solute compared to the solvent, the mixture will be unsaturated, whereas if the amount of solute is soluble or proportionate to the desired amount of solvent, then it is categorized as a saturated mixture. Water is generally classified as a universal solvent, hence its ratio in attaining solubility with other mixtures may differ from the type of solute that is being dissolved or combined with.
