For finding the range of the given function we wanna find the domain of the function so that the Given function is

y = √( X-5 )– 1….(1)

We see that √(x-5) is greater than 0 so we can right √(x-5)≥0

Doing square both side

x-5≥0

Adding 5 on both sides

x≥5

So the domain of the function we can say varies in [5, infinity)

So the range will be   √(x-5)≥0

Adding (-1) on both sides  √(x-5)-1 ≥ -1

By using equation (1)

y≥-1

So the range varies [-1, infinity).
