We know that we have a total amount of 350 birds in out sanctuary and 30% of them are humming birds. 

Since the number of the hummingbirds is unknown we will call it X for now.

To find the percentage of a number, we just have to multiply them together.

First thing, express 30% as a fraction. We know that every percentage as a fraction is equal to the number itself divided by 100, so 30% = 30/100.

Lets divide 30/100 with 350 to find our X

30/100*350=x

Multiply the numerator with the number and the result divide it by the denominator.

We will have (30*350)/100 = x

10500/100=x
