The purpose of a reflective essay, as the root word “reflective,” means is to reflect a thought or an idea that encompasses the subject on hand. Thus, before writing a reflective essay, one must first identify the subject or the topic to be discussed. Hence, it is a must that the writer must fully understand what the subject is all about in order to write the reflection needed, biases are often allowed for such essays since the writer can uphold any statement or opinion that he/she wants, to the fact that it is still in line with the said topic.
