We have the exercise written in words and to make it easier to ourselves, lets write it mathematically.

1/9 + 1/6 =

So its really clear that we have to fractions and we need to find the sum of them. In order to add two fractions together, we need to have the same denominator on both of them.

Lets multiply the denominators together and the result we will multiply it with the corresponding nominator:

9*6=54

Divide 54 with the first and second denominator and the result multiply it with the nominator

The first fraction is 1/9.

54/9=6

6*1=6 (So we multiplied it with the numerator of the fraction)

The new fraction is 6/54.

Second fraction is 1/6.

54/6=9

9*1=9 (Multiply the result with the nominator from the second fraction and that will become the new numerator)

The new fraction is 9/54.

Now lets add the fractions together:

6/54 + 9/54 =

Since the denominator is the same, we can just add the numerators together:

(6+9)/54=

15/54

Divide the numerator and the denominator with 3.

(15/3) / (54/3) = 5/18
