Based on observations, turtles generally move faster than a tortoise on both land and water. Turtles are categorized to be able to live in both land and water, but most turtles are terrestrials, tortoise, on the other hand, are not capable of living in water, and only in land. Hence, tortoise are know to travel slowly, but it can also walk sometimes at the rate which is similar to humans. The general nature of both turtle and tortoise is to move slow, even when they are in a hurry, although comparing their speed, the turtle is a little bit faster.
