Despotism can be defined as a state governed by a ruler with absolute power. A common example of despotism is a kingdom being ruled by a king, or a state being ruled by a sultan. Since the ruler has absolute power, this can negatively affect the people being governed. Some of these negative include the abuse of power by higher officials or the main ruler itself. By doing this, nobody will try to attempt to question such abuse, since they are considering the position of the ruler, although democratic states may go against such acts. Another result will mostly be economic-based, whereas the low wage-earning workers will continue to earn a low salary, whereas the upper-class workers will continue earning high amounts due to the fact that people have no rights to complain or go against the mandated rules.
