Let one number be 10x

Then, according to question next number is 40% more. So,

40% of 10x = 10x/100 × 40

= 4

Thus, 2nd number is 10x + 4x = 14x

Now, their sum is equal to 180.

So, 10x + 14x = 180

24x = 180

x = 180/24

x = 7.5

So, first number = 10 × 7.5 = 75

And, 2nd number = 14x = 14 × 7.5 = 105
