The perimeter of a square is 96 inches. if the side length is 2x + 4, what is the value of x and the length of each side?

Formula used :
perimeter of square = 4a                   {where, a = side}

side = 2x + 4

and, perimeter = 96 inches

Now, putting values in formula, we get

96 = 4(2x+4)

96 = 8x + 16

8x = 96 - 16

8x =80

x =80/8

x = 10

Side = 2(10) + 4

         = 20+ 4

         = 24 inches

 

Thus, value of x is 10 and side of square is 24 inches.
