The amount of water vapor present in air is called absolute humidity.
Water is usually present in the atmosphere due to evaporation, that causes liquid to change into gas. Although the amount of water vapor present may depend on air temperature, since warmer air can hold more water vapor within it, as temperature goes down, the air can hold less vapor and some of it turns into liquid water.
Aside from absolute humidity, there is also the relative humidity, which is amount of water vapor in the air as compared with the amount of water that the air could hold. This factor is often identified in order to determine the water vapor composition that is present in the atmosphere.
