Lets try and remove the brackets by multiplying 6 with the bracket. We will have:

6(x+3)=

=6*x+6*3=

=6x+18

Now the equation is:

6x+18=21

Lets put the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. Every variable or number that will change sides, will have their sign changed from a + into a - and vice versa.

6x=21-18

6x=3

Divide both sides with 6.

6x/6 = 3/6

x=½
