Given the numerical expression:

(x-2)(x-8)

Simplify using FOIL Method.

Solution:

In doing the FOIL Method, multiply the first term of the first expression, with the first and second terms of the other expression, then do the same for the last term of the first expression.

First term to first term =(x)(x)

= x^2

First term to last term=(x) (-8)

=-8x

Last term to first term=(-2)(x)

=-2x

Last term to last term =(-2)(-8)

=16

=x^2 -8x -2x + 16

= x^2 -10x +16
