In order to solve it for y, we need to put y in one side of the equation and the rest of the variables and numbers on the other side. If we change sides, every variable or number that will switch side, will have its sign switched as well from a + into a - and vice versa.

3x+2y=6

2y=6-3x

Divide both sides with 2.

2y/2 = (6-3x)/2

y=(6-3x)/2
