let number of pizza slice = y

equation for jim order=> x+3y=8.50…………….eq(1)

equation for friend order=> 2x+2y=8

2(x+y)=8

x+y=8/2

x+y=4……………..eq(2)

x=4-y……………..eq(3)

put the value of x in eq(1)

4-y+3y=8.50

2y=8.50-4

2y=4.50

y=4.50/2

y=2.25

put this value of y in eq(3)

x=4-2.25

x=1.75
