We know from the question that in order to make 1 loaf of bread we need 3/8 cups of sugar. In order to find out how much sugar is needed to make 9 loaves we can create a simple ratio and we can cross multiply. This amount of sugar will call it X.

If 1 loaf of bread needs 3/8cup of sugar.

Then 9 loaves of bread need X cups of sugar.

If we cross multiply we will have, 1 loaf times x cups of sugar equal to 9 loaves times 3/8cup of sugar. Written mathematically:

X=9*3/8

x=27/8cup of sugar

If we separate 27/8 we will have: 8/8+8/8+8/8+3/8

So we have 3 whole cups and 3/8 of cup on top of them. So needs 3cups and 3/8of a cup.
