Let the total homework be x

Then, homework finish at school = x/2

Homework finished after practice = x/3

Remaining Homework = 13

So, x - x/2 - x/3 = 13

LCM of 2 and 3 is 6. So,

(6x - 3x - 2x)/6 = 13

Cross-Multiplying,  we get

x = 13 × 6

x = 78

So, Joe started with 78 problems.
