if a point P(x,y) divides the line segment joining, A(x1,x2) and B(x2,y2) in the ratio of m1, m2 then the coordinates of point P are :-

x= m1x2+m2x1/m1+m2

y=m1y2+m2y1/m1+m2

here value of m1=1 and m2= 1 because m1:m2 is the ratio and according to the question 1:1 is the ratio

now put the value in formula:-

x=1(x2)+1(x1)/1+1

x=x2+x1 /2

y=1(y2)+1(y1)/1+1

y=y2+y1 /2

hence, coordinates of P are (x2+x1 /2 , y2+y1 /2)
