Given : 

Cost of China cup and saucer = $12

Let the Cost of cup be s

So, the cost of cup is (s +3)

Then, s + s + 3 = 12

2s + 3 = 12

2s = 12 - 3

2s = 9

s = 9/2

s = $4.5

So, Cost of saucer is $4.5

Then, Cost of cup = 4.5 + 3

= $7.5

 

Thus, the cost of cup is $7.5
