Gene is the basic unit of hereditary. It  carries information that defines who a person is, specifically the genetic traits that a person has. Genetic traits are often passed down as a hereditary material from a parent to offspring. For example, if the father has a brown eye, and the mother has a brown eye, then most like the offspring will also have a brown eye. The concept of gene can be easily distinguished by looking around you and seeing family members with the same trait as you are, common traits include; the height, color of your skin, type of hair, and eye color.
