Homeostasis is any self-regulating process by which an organism tends to maintain stability while adjusting to conditions that are best for its survival.

It is a physiological process of a body to maintain constant internal environment in response to fluctuations in outer external environment. Though it is maintained by a series of control mechanisms functioning at the organ, tissue or cellular level. These control mechanisms include substrate supply, activation or inhibition of individual enzymes and receptors, synthesis and degradation of enzymes, and compartmentalization.
