y = x + 4, by comparing this equation with slope intercept form=y=mx+c here m is slope of line and
a. when two lines are parallel then their slopes are same so, it means m1= m2
now, y = x + 4 have slope 1 so slope of another line that is parallel to it also have slope 1 .
b. when a line perpendicular to another has a slope that is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the other line.
so, m2=-1/m1
m2= -1/1
m2=-1
