Explain why having only one ventricle makes the circulatory system less efficient than having two ventricles.

The ventricle is divided more effectively by a partial septum, which results in less mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. Some reptiles (alligators and crocodiles) are the most primitive animals to exhibit a four-chambered heart.

Single circulation is less efficient. Blood flows at low pressure. Hence, the rate of oxygen supply to cells and tissues is low in a single circulation. In single circulation, blood flows from the heart to the gills, where the exchange of gases takes place.
