Fermentation is the partial degradation of sugars or other organic fuel without oxygen while cellular respiration uses oxygen.

Catabolic degradation of glucose by cellular respiration : 

C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6 O₂ → 6 CO₂ + 6 H₂O + Energy (ATP + Heat)
Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy (ATP + Heat)
