Given :

Height of tree, perpendicular = 15 feet

Shadow, base = 8 feet

Hypotenuse = ?

Using phythogoras theorem :

H² = P² + B²

H² = 15² + 8²

H² = 225 + 64

H² = 289

H = √289

H = 17

Hence, distance from the tip of the tree to the tip of it's shadow is 17 feet.
