Okay so we have 2 equations:

  1. 1. 5x+3y=-12

and

2. 8x+7y=-6

in order to find the solution pair, we have to express one of them in relation to another

so i will express x in relation of y

lets take the first equation and solve it for x

5x+3y=-12

5x=-12-3y

x= (-12-3y)/5

This X we can now substitute on the second equation so we will have 1 unknown value

8*[(-12-3y)/5] +7y=-6

[(-96-24y)/5]+7y=-6

lets have them both on the same denominator which is 5

so:

[(-96-24y)+7y]/5=-6

-96-24y+7y=-30

-96-17y=-30

17y=--66

y=3.88

We know that x= (-12-3y)/5

x= (-12-3*3.88)/5

=(-12-11.64)/5

=-23.64/5

x=4.728
