Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm.

Then its length is x+4 cm.

According to the problem,

2{x+x+4}=34

or, 2x+4=17

or, x=6.5.

So breadth of the rectangle is 6.5 cm and length is 10.5 cm.

So the area of the rectangle is 6.5×10.5=68.25 cm2
