In order to solve this equation we follow this route:

Lets try and multiply the bracket with the number 4. We will have:

4(0.2x-5)=

4*0.2x - 4*5=

0.8x-20

The result is equal with 12.

0.8x-20=12

Lets put the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. Every variable or number that will change sides, will have their sign changed from a + into a - and vice versa.

0.8x=20+12

0.8x=32

Divide both sides with 0.8.

0.8x/0.8 = 32/0.8

x=40
