We have,

x+2y=3         ….1

2x+3y = 5     ….2

Multiplying equation 1 by 2 and Subtracting equation 2 from 1, we get

2x + 4y - (2x + 3y) = 6 - 5

2x + 4y - 2x - 3y = 1

y = 1

Now, putting value of y in equation 1, we get

x + 2(1) = 3

x + 2 = 3

x = 3 -2

x = 1
