Perpendicular lines will have slopes that are negative reciprocals of one another.. Hence slope of the required line is -½

Let the equation of line be y= mx+c where m is the slope and c is the y-intercept.

We just obtained that m=4

So y= -½x+c

Now it is given that the point (9,6) satisfies the equation as the line passes through it. So

6=-½(9)+c

7+(9/2)=c

so,  c=23/2

put the value in the equation y=mx+c So the required equation is :

y=-½x+23/2

2y=-x+23
