Monosaccharides are simple molecules of carbohydrates that cannot be broken into other carbohydrates. Glucose and fructose are examples of monosaccharides. Disaccharides are carbohydrates made of two monosaccharides and with the loss of one molecule of water dehydration.

Sucrose is a complex carbohydrate, a disaccharide . It is composed of molecules of glucose. Glucose is simple sugar , a monosaccharide . It is thus evident that a single sucrose molecule will store much more energy as it stores energy equal to that stored in single glucose molecules .
