Carbohydrates are essential for the athletes in order to gain energy. Eating a substantial amount of  carbohydrate rich meals every day  keeps glycogen stores full and make the most of the athletes training sessions. Carbohydrates are considered to be the fuel of the human body, and athletes require a lot of fuel since their energy expenditure is greater than compared an average person who is not training for any competition.
